Your PD, or pupillary distance, is the distance between the centres of your pupils, measured in millimetres. We use it to position the optical centre of each lens directly in front of your eye. Without it, lenses can sit slightly off-centre, which is a common cause of eye strain.

The easiest way

Once you have placed an order, we will send you a link that measures your PD from a photograph taken on your phone. It takes about a minute and is the most accurate option short of visiting a store.

Other ways to get it

• Visit any Cubitts store. We will measure it for you, free, and it takes a moment. No appointment is needed.
• Check your prescription. Some opticians include your PD on it, often written as a single number such as 63, or as two numbers such as 31.5 / 31.5.
• Ask the optician who tested your eyes. They hold the measurement and can usually give it to you on request.

If you are ordering for someone else

We need the PD of the person who will wear the spectacles, not the person placing the order. The prescription must also be in the wearer's name.

If you are not sure

Send us what you have and we will check it before your lenses are made. We would rather confirm a measurement than remake a pair.
